You’ve just authored a great list about a topic you care about, but you’re not seeing any votes appearing. Why?
Usually, the problem isn’t your list – it’s the viral spread of it; or the lack thereof. Lists on Listnerd.com that are promoted through social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Stumbleupon and Linkedin gets an average of 4x the number of votes as lists that aren’t promoted. But that’s not the only way you can drive traffic to your list.
Below are our top 5 ways of getting more votes on your list:
- Go Social!
Make your list go viral by using the social media “Share”-buttons at the top of your list. Spread your list to Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, Stumbleupon, Linkedin and as many other social media outlets as possible. The more people exposed to your list, the more votes you’re going to get.
- Write smart
Write a good title and description for your list. Ask yourself: “What would I google if I were to find this list?”. Try to make the title of your list match that search query.
- Engage your friends
Get your friends in on the action! You probably have lots of friends that are interested in the same stuff as you. Shoot them an email, an SMS or just ask them face to face to contribute and vote on your list. Lists are far more fun when shared with a few good friends.
- Attract buzz
Become an active user on Listnerd.com. Active users are promoted on our frontpage and are more likely to have their lists get noticed by other other members. Vote, write comments, suggest items to other lists and be a friendly guy or girl. As momma used to say: What goes around, comes around.
- Be patient!
Remember, the most popular lists on Listnerd.com didn’t get thousands of votes over night. At Listnerd, we often speak of the “cumulative effect”; which is the combined effect of lots of small things. If you do all of the stuff above, chances are they’re going to work together in making your list a success.
From all of us at Listnerd.com, good luck – and may your list live long and prosper.
